ACS Skills Assessment Fees 2026–2027: Current Costs

Choose the assessment pathway first

Qualification Only is for applicants who need an assessment of their qualification without work-experience assessment. Post Australian Study is designed for eligible graduates with an Australian bachelor degree or higher. General Skills assesses both qualifications and employment for applicants with ICT qualifications. RPL is the route for applicants relying on demonstrated ICT knowledge where the standard qualification pathway does not fit. Read the pathway criteria before paying; the cheapest pathway is not automatically the correct one.

Current ACS charges

The published charges are AUD 625 for Qualification Only, AUD 1,136 for Post Australian Study, AUD 1,498 for General Skills and AUD 625 for RPL. An internal Level 1 appeal is AUD 516 and an external Level 2 appeal is AUD 620. Fees can change, so the ACS checkout and fee page control at the time of application.

How ACS assesses the evidence

ACS compares the qualification content and work history with the nominated ANZSCO occupation. Job title alone is not enough. Employment documents must establish the employer, dates, hours, remuneration and duties, and the duties must support the occupation selected. ACS may determine a “deemed skilled” date; employment before that date may not be usable in the same way for a skilled migration points claim.

Processing time and outcome

ACS says complete applications that do not require more documents or information should generally allow 4–6 weeks. It also advertises that some outcomes may be delivered in as little as 15 days, but that is not a promise for every case. A positive assessment covers the occupation and evidence assessed; Home Affairs separately decides visa eligibility and points.

Appeal versus a new application

An appeal is not a chance to redesign an application after an avoidable pathway or evidence mistake. Use the ACS explanation of Level 1 and Level 2 review, time limits and eligible grounds. If your qualifications, occupation or work evidence have materially changed, first check whether a new application is the correct route.
